SUMMARY:Art Class: Botanical Monoprinting on the Gelli Plate
DESCRIPTION:Discover the intuitive and joyful art of botanical monoprinting in this hands-on workshop. Using a flexible gelli plate\, you will learn how to capture the delicate textures and intricate details of leaves\, ferns\, and grasses. This process allows you to create unique art prints without the need for a traditional printing press. Using a brayer to apply smooth\, even layers of acrylic paint to the gelli plate\, we’ll press our botanical items into the plate\, transferring textures and patterns onto the paper. Play with color theory\, translucency\, and layers. \nLeaves and materials will be provided\, but please feel free to bring your own botanical textures. Items will likely be destroyed in the process of printing\, and need to be able to lie flat between two pieces of paper. Other items\, like pine cones\, will create a very neat texture that looks nothing like a pinecone – but very fun all the same!

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Swoon City for Baubles and Botanicals: Exploring Cyanotypes\, a one-day workshop led by local cyanotype artist Audrey Lewis. Cyanotypes are a historic photographic process that uses sunlight to create rich blue prints from objects placed directly on light-sensitive paper. \nIn this warm\, welcoming\, and judgment-free space\, we’ll create our own cyanotype prints using pressed botanicals and pieces of jewelry. Though all materials will be provided you’re encouraged to bring small items from your own collection to make the experience even more personal. \nAudrey will guide you step-by-step through the entire process—from prepping your paper and arranging your composition\, to exposing your print in sunlight and finishing your final piece. We’ll also experiment with toning techniques using coffee and tea\, transforming the classic blue into soft\, earthy variations. \nThis workshop is all about experimentation\, curiosity\, and joy.
