SUMMARY:Community Yoga with Flood Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Start your Sunday morning with intention. \nThis Slow Flow class is a gently-paced vinyasa practice that invites you to move\, breathe\, and settle into your body — no experience necessary\, all levels welcome. \nSlow Flow sits in the sweet spot between active and easeful\, blending softness with strength. Expect a continuous\, fluid sequence of standing and seated poses\, linked with breath and held just long enough to find your foundation and fully arrive in each shape. This is a mindful\, accessible flow designed to move with intention rather than speed. We’ll close every session with a generous savasana so you leave feeling grounded and renewed. \nWhether you’ve never stepped on a mat or you’ve been practicing for years\, this class is designed to meet you exactly where you are. \nJoin Kate Holter\, founder and owner of Flood Yoga\, for three Sunday mornings this summer. We will be using the beautiful Osberg Great Hall and the Fisherman’s Sun Terrace for an indoor/outdoor yoga experience.

SUMMARY:Kalevala Festival: Kantele Performance
DESCRIPTION:What is a Kantele? \nThe kantele\, Finland’s national instrument\, is a powerful symbol of Finnish cultural heritage and is closely connected to the national epic\, the Kalevala. \nIn the Kalevala\, the wise hero Väinämöinen creates the first kantele from the jawbone of a giant pike\, stringing it with the hair of a stallion. After losing that instrument\, he fashions a second kantele from birch wood. According to Kalevala\, the music of the kantele holds magical power. When Väinämöinen plays\, the entire natural world grows still to listen—people\, animals\, forests\, and even the waters. \nThe kantele later became an important national symbol during Finland’s 19th-century cultural awakening\, when the Kalevala helped strengthen Finnish identity under Russian rule and prepared the nation for independence in 1917. Today the instrument remains central to Finnish folk music\, ranging from traditional five-string kanteles to modern forty-string concert instruments.
