In just the last few years, her name AND full-throttle singing, both with the True Loves and solo, has excited casual listeners and dance floors across the globe. First, the True Loves’ records blew up (“Fire” is still in heavy rotation), and now her two post–True Loves 45s on Europe’s Cannonball label (especially her first Cannonball side, the string-laced dancer “Higher”) are a bumping testimony that, yes, Seattle does have soul.
