Q&A with owner Tiffany Brooks

Why did you choose to open your business in Ballard?

We love the community and the people. We have ties to Ballard through some of our makers in the community. When we heard that Daily Ritual Market (Breannah) was going to give up her retail space to focus on making her products, it became clear it was time to open a store in Ballard.

What inspired you to start your business?

I’ve always loved giving gifts. It’s something that brings me so much joy. For years, I kept a “gift closet” at home, filled with little treasures for the right moment. After working in luxury retail management and hosting countless events, I saw how much stress people feel when it comes to finding the right gift. I wanted to take that anxiety away and create a space where gifting feels thoughtful, fun, and effortless while also supporting small businesses and giving back to the community. That’s how my shop was born.

What is a fun fact about Curated?

Our inventory is always changing. Every product is hand-curated with intention, and we rotate in fresh discoveries regularly so there’s always something new for customers to experience. It keeps the store dynamic and makes each visit feel like a unique discovery.

What is your favorite product that you carry?

Since I curated the inventory myself, I genuinely love everything we carry. From our wine selection to personal care items. If I had to choose, I’d say the books and cards are my favorite; they’re small touches that make every gift feel thoughtful and personal.

What is your favorite thing to do in Ballard?

I love exploring the small shops, restaurants, and supporting fellow local businesses; it’s such a vibrant, creative community.

What sets your business apart?

We take the stress out of gift-giving with curated, one-of-a-kind finds you won’t see anywhere else. Many of our vendors give back and support their communities, so every purchase spreads impact beyond the gift itself.

Tell us about the customer experience.

A warm, welcoming space where gifting feels effortless. Customers can expect fresh selections, personal touches, and one-on-one attention with a customer-first approach that makes every visit special.

Is there anything else we should know about your business?

We are a female-owned small business. We have two locations and love partnering with local businesses and individuals for bulk gifting needs, corporate gifts, weddings, milestone birthdays, baby and bridal showers, and more.

Curated Ballard joins its sister shop, Curated in Gig Harbor. The first shop opened in November 2024. Stop in and welcome Tiffany to the neighborhood and start planning your upcoming gift-giving season.
